A hawk was set free in mid-August after six weeks in the wildlife hospital at Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge in Medford – the busiest in the state. When he was initially found, he was unable to fly or hunt on his own, and was dehydrated and underweight. The staff at Cedar Run rehabilitated the hawk, including allowing him to practice flying and hunting in the on-site Pre-release Flight Testing Aviary, before releasing him exactly where he was found.
