If Renee liked numbers, she would be the perfect person to turn your shoebox full of paperwork into an accurate, complete tax return with the orderly documentation to back it up. Numbers aren't her forte, but she applies her organizational skills to others projects with outstanding results.
How Renee Got Here
Renee came to LBC through a mutual friend of Laura’s who knew these two PR pros should get together. Renee has worked with LBC since 2017, adding her strong background in media relations, education issues and event planning to this dynamic firm that thrives through teamwork.
Renee started her career in Michigan at a small, daily newspaper that is part of the Hearst Corporation. During seven years as its education reporter, she covered budget debates, contract negotiations, election cycles, curriculum initiatives and, her personal favorite, the energizing atmosphere inside many a classroom. Through those years and three more as the paper’s news editor, Renee picked up numerous awards for reporting and writing. She won Hearst’s prestigious Eagle Award for all-around excellence.
After moving to New Jersey, Renee used her experience to benefit clients ranging from public schools to arts organizations to corporate foundations. She designed and led campaigns for school bond issues, and she provided strategic guidance and organizational legwork for a public school’s highly successful tuition program. Renee also wrote feel-good stories for the Courier-Post’s community news section and contributed lifestyle pieces for magazines in southern New Jersey. She guided the development of a vocational school's education foundation from fledgling to robust. All of that made a great base for her work with LBC!
Talents and Expertise
Renee defines the term “organization.” She has a seemingly innate ability to get at the heart of a project, event, issue, etc., break it down into the appropriate pieces, and then tackle them one by one until the client reaches a successful result!
She leverages her solid background in media relations and education to help LBC clients develop strategic communications programs. They appreciate her ability to engage a range of audiences through the written word, and to track nitty gritty details so nothing gets overlooked.
Her Favorite Projects
Renee is drawn to projects that require crafting simple explanations for complex concepts, and those that highlight the big-picture impact of a seemingly simple thing. Both elements can be found in the informational campaigns of school referenda, making those Renee’s favorite slice of LBC work.
Other Stuff Renee Does
Although it often seems that way, it’s not ALL work for Renee. She and husband Jon are raising two terrific young adults. They all love to cook together and travel together, although sometimes that’s done virtually while gathered around a television.
Renee is a member of the New Jersey School Public Relations Association, Pinelands Preservation Alliance and several public radio/television stations. She is a member of the Marketing Committee of the South Jersey Food Bank.
Renee believes in giving back to the community, and has volunteered as a preschool director, a soccer club registrar, a Girl Scout leader, a PTO president, a theater club leader, and the organizer of several charitable endeavors. For about 10 years she has helped promote the amazing array of Fourth of July activities in her tiny town of Riverton.
Renee graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
