Most comfortable behind the scenes, Mel Clendining is happy to lend a hand wherever, whenever, the LBC team needs her. Whether coordinating schedules or invoicing clients, Mel enjoys handling several tasks at once and finds humor in even the most stressful situations. She is thrilled to be on of the newest members of the LBC family.
How Mel Got Here
Mel says her most important role in life always has been “being a Mom.” She did a great job raising three children, and now that they are grown, she has brought those talents and a past career in communications to the LBC team.
Before Mel spent 27 years raising her children, she had a very successful career in direct marketing and public relations at two firms: Grey Direct Marketing and The Rowland Company. Mel is melding her marketing and public relations know-how – writing, proofing, content development – along with the significant skills she has gained as a stay-at-home mom – organization, multi-tasking, problem-solving – to keep the administrative side of LBC running smoothly.
Mel says her resume probably should read “accomplished driver, team mom, psychotherapist, and chief cook and bottle-washer." That is perfect for LBC! These certainly all are critically important skills that Mel leverages every day in her role.
Other Stuff Mel Does
Additionally, Mel is the founder and president of a small non-profit, Bee A Blessing, Inc., which she and her family started in 2017, in honor of her sister Jan’s memory. Mel and family actively are involved in raising funds for local pediatric organ transplant recipients, as well as local animal welfare organizations. When Mel’s brother, who was the organization’s chairman, passed away in early 2018, Bee A Blessing made a donation in his memory for purchasing and training a Seeing Eye dog. As Mel says, Bee A Blessing is a real labor of love.
Mel has a bachelor’s of arts degree from Rutgers University, where she double majored in English and communications.
