Senior Account Manager
If Renee liked numbers, she would be the perfect person to turn your shoebox full of paperwork into an accurate, complete tax return with the orderly documentation to back it up. Numbers aren't her forte, but she applies her organizational skills to others projects with outstanding results.
How Renee Got Here
Renee came to LBC through a mutual friend of Laura’s who knew these two PR pros should get together. It took a few years though, because the friend kept forgetting to introduce them. No worries, Renee joined LBC as a public relations consultant in March 2017; now she’s a full-time member of the team!
Renee started out her career on a small, daily newspaper in Michigan that was part of the Hearst Corporation. For seven years there, Renee was the education reporter, and spent another three years as the news editor. As the education reporter, Renee covered everything from budget debates and contract negotiations, to election cycles and curricula initiatives. But her absolute favorite stories to cover were those that took her into the classroom – she loved the “energizing” atmosphere.
Over the years at the newspaper, Renee received numerous rewards for her reporting and writing, including the Heart Corporation’s prestigious Eagle Award for all-around excellence. None of us are surprised! Renee brings it all, every day!
When Renee moved to New Jersey, she used her experience and knowledge to help clients who ranged from public schools and arts organizations to corporate foundations. She designed and led campaigns for school bond issues, and even provided strategic guidance and organizational legwork for a public school’s highly successful tuition program. She guided the development of a vocational school's education foundation from fledgling to robust. It turns out that this was all a great base for her work with LBC!
Additionally, Renee has written stories for the Courier-Post’s community news sections that highlight the people, activities, and programs who bring out the “good” in southern New Jersey. She also has contributed lifestyle pieces for magazines in the region.
Talents and Expertise
Renee defines the term “organization”. If you need it organized, well, Renee is the one to do it! She has a seemingly innate ability to get at the heart of a project, event, issue, etc., break it down into the appropriate pieces, and then tackle them one-by-one, until you reach the successful result!
Of course, she has a pretty strong background in media relations and education issues, which she leverages to help LBC clients develop strategic communications programs. Although everyone thinks they can write, Renee actually can – a strong writer who can engage audiences.
Her Favorite Projects
Renee is drawn to projects that require crafting simple explanations for complex concepts, and those that highlight the big-picture impact of a simple thing. So, for
example, Renee enjoys working on communications programs to support school district clients’ referenda projects.
Other Stuff Renee Does
Renee is a member of the New Jersey School Public Relations Association.
Although it often seems that way, it’s not ALL work for Renee. She and husband Jon are raising two terrific young adults, and they all love to cook together and travel together, although sometimes that’s done virtually while gathered around a television. The traveling, not the cooking.
Renee believes in giving back to the community as well, and has volunteered as a preschool director, a soccer club registrar, a PTO president, a theater club leader, and the organizer of several charitable endeavors. For about 10 years she has helped promote the amazing array of Fourth of July activities in her tiny town of Riverton.
Renee graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
